ColdFusion 9.0.1 Released

ColdFusion 9.0.1 is now available for download at http://www.adobe.com/go/getcf901.

Some of the good changes mainly in the use of ORM:

Language enhancements - including for-in loops for arrays.
CFScript support for dbinfo, imap, pop, ldap, and feed
CFScript support for file uploads.
Caching enhancements - including the ability to get a handle on the ehCache session.
Support for IIS 7
ColdFusion Ajax enhancements - including updates cfmap, cfgrid, file uploading and JavaScript functions.
ORM enhancements:

Support for Multiple Datasources
Transaction Management Improvements
skipCFCWithError Flag in ormSettings
mappedSuperClass Attribute for Components
Use EntityNew to Populate a New Entity
Support for HQL in cfquery

Amazon S3 support - the ability to use Amazon S3 storage with most tags and functions that use a file or directory as input or output.
On the Flash/AIR/DS site - there were updates to the CF/AIR integration bits, Flash Remoting, and support was added for BlazeDS 4 and LCDS 3. (Blaze and LCDS are one of the things I think far too many CFers don't know enough about.) ,
CFaaS was updated to allow you to get text and images from PDFs.

After requests from the community, finally the official release of ColdFusion Builder.

The ColdFusion Builder is the new Eclipse-based IDE for ColdFusion development is deeply integrated with ColdFusion 9 in addition to making it fast and easy for CF developers to create Flex applications with integration between ColdFusion Builder and Flash Builder.

Also released the Forum for ColdFusion Builder!

The Adobe also released the final version of the Flex SDK 4 and the IDE Flash Builder 4

Flex 4 – Including the new Spark skinning and component architecture enabling a new level of expressiveness in RIAs in addition to supporting the new Flash Catalyst to Flash Builder workflow.

Flash Builder 4 - There are over 90 new features in this release, and you can use them with both Flex 3 and Flex 4 to gain big improvements in development time, integration and building more expressive apps.

ColdFusion Builder is priced at $299 and comes with a copy of Flash Builder 4 Standard. Or, for $699 you can buy Flash Builder 4 Premium which also includes a copy of ColdFusion Builder.

Worth noting: like ColdFusion itself, ColdFusion Builder is free for educational purposes.

Adobe Community Professionals 2010

Previously the program that I am a member since 2008, was called Adobe Community Expert, from 2010 it is now called Adobe Community Professional.

It is with grateful joy that I see my name on the list again. This proves that the work done, has been taken into account and that gives me even more courage to continue with the projects to come, as BRConference 2010, ColdFusion and RIA Connection.

And with even more joy is knowing that friends like Lauro Santos and Pedro Claudio, become part of the team! More than deserved to have more names Brazilian, names in the program and that actually do something for the community, either with posts, groups, chats, lists, etc..

BR Conference 2010 - ColdFusion and RIA Connection in Brazil

The Inove Consulting Experts and BR Multimidia, Center Authorized Adobe, will jointly hold a major event involving ColdFusion and RIA in Brazil with great names of national and international community. The event is called the BR Conference 2010 - ColdFusion and RIA Connection, where we have issues involving ColdFusion, Flex, AIR, Flash Media Server, LiveCycle among others. I do not remember an event of this magnitude carried out here.

Raymond Camden has launched the Best of ColdFusion 9 contest.

Best of all - it is open to anyone and everyone (whether or not you were a beta tester).The contest begins today and they have got some stellar prizes lined up from Adobe. What kind of prizes? How about a ColdFusion 9 Enterprise license, a ColdFusion Builder license (when released), a Flash Builder 4 license (ditto), a set of CFWACK 9 books (ditto again), and even more on top of that? Adobe announce: ColdFusion 9 is now available.

It's been about 2 years in the making and of the hard work and dedication the development team puts in. They put in crazy hours, and put out a product that is unbelievable. Here's what they added:

PS.: The EULA for ColdFusion 9:

Usage with cloud computing is now supported. Each license of ColdFusion will limit you to a number of instances.
- Standard 1 instance
- Enterprise 10 instances
ColdFusion 9 boxes dedicated to testing or group development no longer require their own licenses. A license of ColdFusion 9 you buy for production will allow you to create the rest of your environment. This is in addition to the change in the EULA we made in ColdFusion 8 to cover passive backup servers. We made both of these changes because it was important to us that developers not be penalized for following best practices.

It's important to note that these changes are not retroactive to previous versions of ColdFusion, only to ColdFusion 9.

The new Adobe Cookbooks application is now live

This uber Adobe Cookbook application replaces the individual, product-specific cookbook applications that were previously in place for Flex, AIR and Mobile. The new application will still support those technologies, in addition to a dozen or so additional technologies, all within a single application. For those new to the cookbook applications, they are a searchable repository for community-generated code samples.

The new features include:

Many more products/technologies
Improved navigation and search
Recipe requests - for developers who can't find the code sample they are looking for
Related recipes - that appear in a side bar of all recipe pages
Cookbook Explorer - a visual display of top cookbook recipes and contributors
New contributor recognition features - profile pics, links to blogs, links to community profiles
